Quick answer: The current MTN Pulse Nightlife plan is 500MB for ₦75. It works from 11pm to 6am. To activate it, text NT2 to 312, or dial *406# and choose the Pulse Nightlife bundle. You can buy the 500MB bundle multiple times, up to a maximum of 2GB per day.

If you are seeing older articles that say the MTN night plan costs ₦25 or ₦50, be careful. MTN Nigeria’s current Pulse information lists the Nightlife offer as 500MB for ₦75.

This guide explains the current price, activation methods, browsing hours, balance codes and what happens if you are not already on MTN Pulse.

Current MTN night plan price

As verified on 9 August 2026, MTN Nigeria lists one Pulse Nightlife bundle:

Night planPriceValid timeDaily maximum
500MB Pulse Nightlife₦7511pm–6am2GB

The 2GB daily maximum means you can activate the 500MB bundle up to four times in a day.

MTN calls this offer the Pulse Nightlife Bundle. It is associated with the MTN Pulse tariff plan.

How to activate the MTN night plan

You have two official methods.

Method 1: Use SMS

  1. Make sure you have enough airtime for the bundle.
  2. Open your Messages app.
  3. Type NT2.
  4. Send it to 312.
  5. Wait for MTN’s confirmation message before assuming the bundle is active.

The current 500MB Nightlife bundle costs ₦75.

Method 2: Use the MTN Pulse USSD menu

  1. Dial *406# from your MTN line.
  2. Choose the Pulse Nightlife bundle option shown in the menu.
  3. Select the available 500MB plan.
  4. Confirm the purchase.
  5. Wait for the confirmation message.

Using the menu is safer than relying on an old direct shortcut copied from another website because MTN can change menu paths and bundle options.

What time does the MTN night plan work?

The Pulse Nightlife bundle works from 11pm to 6am.

It is not an all-day data bundle. If you need data during normal daytime hours, buy a regular MTN data plan instead.

MTN’s current regular data plans can be accessed through *312#. You can also read our guide on how to check your MTN data balance after buying a regular bundle.

How to check your MTN night plan balance

MTN currently gives two official ways to check the Pulse Nightlife balance:

  • Dial *310#; or
  • Dial *406*3*3#.

If you have several MTN bundles active, pay attention to the balance description in the response so you know which bundle you are looking at.

Can you buy the MTN night plan more than once?

Yes. MTN says you can activate the 500MB Pulse Nightlife bundle multiple times, but you cannot buy more than 2GB in a day.

Since each activation gives 500MB, four activations equal the 2GB daily limit.

If you have already activated and used the full 2GB allowance during the night period, MTN says you cannot activate another Nightlife bundle until after 6am.

Does unused MTN night data roll over?

No. MTN says unused Pulse Nightlife data does not roll over. Any unused Nightlife balance is cleared after 6am.

That makes this bundle most useful when you already know you have a large download, update or other data-heavy task to complete during the night window.

Does the MTN night plan renew automatically?

No. According to MTN, the Pulse Nightlife bundle does not automatically renew. You need to subscribe again when you want another Nightlife bundle.

Do you have to be on MTN Pulse first?

The Nightlife bundle is a Pulse offer, but you do not necessarily have to migrate manually before trying to buy it.

MTN says customers on another tariff plan can subscribe to a Pulse Nightlife bundle. You should receive a consent prompt explaining that the purchase will migrate your line to MTN Pulse. MTN says it does not charge the normal migration fee when the migration happens through a Nightlife bundle purchase.

If you want to migrate separately, MTN currently lists these methods:

  • text 406 to 312;
  • dial *406*1#; or
  • dial *123*2*2#.

Always read the confirmation prompt before accepting a tariff-plan change.

Why do some websites still show ₦25 or ₦50 MTN night plans?

Telecom offers change, but old articles can remain in search results for years.

Some current-looking pages still repeat older prices such as 250MB for ₦25 or 500MB for ₦50. MTN Nigeria’s own Pulse pages currently show 500MB for ₦75, so that is the figure to use unless MTN changes the offer again.

This is also why it is better to confirm telecom codes and prices against the network’s current documentation rather than relying only on an old screenshot or blog post.

MTN night plan not working? Check these things

If you paid for the bundle but cannot use it, work through these checks:

1. Confirm that MTN activated the bundle

Look for the successful activation SMS. If you did not receive confirmation, check your airtime and try the official *406# menu again.

2. Check the time

The Nightlife bundle is usable only from 11pm to 6am. Trying to use it outside that window can make it look as if the bundle is not working.

3. Check your Nightlife balance

Dial *310# or *406*3*3# to see whether you still have Nightlife data available.

4. Check whether you reached the daily limit

The maximum Nightlife allowance is 2GB per day. Buying four 500MB bundles reaches that limit.

5. Refresh your mobile-data connection

Turn mobile data off and back on. If necessary, briefly enable airplane mode and disable it again so the phone reconnects to the network.

If the problem is your general MTN connection rather than the Nightlife bundle itself, troubleshoot the network before buying another bundle.
